Topic: Adrian will present Micropack’s new CCTV Imaging Based Visual Flame Detector and will cover its origins and applications as well as their recent involvement with the National Fire Protection Research Foundation Road Tunnel Detection Project.

Mark Your Calendars! SFPE-RMC will hold a fall educational conference November 19-20, 2008. The Chapter will be hosting the International SFPE course Introduction to Fire Risk Assessment. The seminar instructor is scheduled to be William Koffel, PE, FSFPE of Koffel Associates. Check back here later in the summer for location and registration information.

HISTORY
The Rocky Mountain Chapter was formed by a few dedicated people in October, 1983, and became a internationally recognized Chapter of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers on October 22, 1984. The membership consists of people from many diverse careers in the field of fire protection. The Chapter thrives on the participation and dedication of all it's members.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Chapter meets on the first Wednesday of each month, except during the months of June, July, and August. The meetings are usually business-meeting luncheons, with one or two social events held in the evenings. At each of the meetings there is a guest speaker who will provide a focus on new and changing developments that affect fire protection.

Also the Chapter distributes relevant articles, upcoming events, job postings, and bits of information covering the latest happenings in the world of fire protection. This information is distributed by the Chapter Secretary. To add yourself to the email distribution list, or to share something with the membership, please send an email to the Chapter Secretary. Information shared with the membership should be relevant to the profession and appropriate for distribution to the membership. Any distribution via the Chapter is at the sole discretion of the Chapter Board and its Bylaws.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
SFPE Rocky Mountain Chapter membership is open to all persons interested in the profession of Fire Protection Engineering. Membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers is not require in order to be a member of the Rocky Mountain Chapter of SFPE, nor does membership in the SFPE Rocky Mountain Chapter constitute membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Individuals who join as Chapter Members must also be registered international members of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, and will be permitted to vote in Chapter affairs (such as the annual Chapter officers' election). Individuals who join as Chapter Friends need not be registered international members of SFPE, and are not permitted to vote in Chapter affairs. Please specify on the form if you are joining as a Member or a Friend.
NOTE: The RMC Board is considering changing the dues structure for the 2008-2009 Chapter Year depending on an applicant's International SFPE membership status. Please check back here soon, or contact the Chapter Secretary for an update.
Dues for this year are again $25.00 per person, whether you participate as a Chapter Member or Chapter Friend. Dues are due by September 1, 2008. NOTE: An individual joining the international SFPE organization for the first time may be eligible to have his or her annual dues to RMC-SFPE waived by naming RMC-SFPE as their source on the international SFPE membership application. Information on joining the international SFPE organization can be found at www.sfpe.org. On the website, go to the link titled Join SFPE (International).
