Free online course "Introduction to Fire Risk Assessment," is taught in 19 lectures of approximately 15 minutes duration each. The course instructor is William E. Koffel, Jr. P.E. and Fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. William Koffel is President of Koffel Associates, Inc. and has 28 years of experience in fire protection. Student Membership
Engineering students with an interest in a career in Fire Protection Engineering are invited to become a student member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Student members receive a subscription to SFPE's quarterly magazine, Fire Protection Engineering, discounts on publications and merchandise, and full use of the members-only section of the SFPE website. DVD - Chemistry of Fire
With support and funding from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, SFPE was able to develop this DVD that contains informtion for science teacher's about incorporating fire science into high school programs. The material is consistent with U.S. chemistry education curriculum standards. This DVD was developed as part of the SFPE strategy to increase recognition of the fire protection engineering profession and to attract more students into careers in fire protection engineering. High school teachers and students are encouraged to obtain a copy of the DVD and to use its content in developing lessons for chemistry and science programs.
